The Criminal Division The Criminal Division focuses resources on the following areas: homicide, drug trafficking, violent crimes & fraudulent crimes against vulnerable populations, public corruption, crimes involving computers and major environmental crimes. The division also reviews all instances in which a police officer uses deadly force. Victim Services The Victim Advocate provides assistance and information to crime victims, including information on the status of the court case, notification of hearings, preparation of victims for depositions and trial, establishing restitution amounts, assistance in filling impact statements, and applications for compensation. The Medicaid Fraud & Residential Abuse Unit This unit focuses its resources on patient abuse, which primarily includes the abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly and disabled adults and Medicaid provider fraud. The Unit has jurisdiction when the crime occurs in any Medicaid funded facility, including nursing homes or hospitals, or in any Medicaid-funded program or setting, such as in home health care or community care home settings.
